Challenge
The requirement
The checkout zone, cash counters and cash office needed to be sealed from the rest of the store, while several other openings each required a different size. One uniform curtain type would not work: the layout needed single-barrel automatic curtains, one much larger double-barrel automatic curtain, and long fixed runs specifically around the cash area.
Solution
How it was delivered
Window Techs installed a combination of fixed fabric and automatic fire curtains engineered against the store's own drawings. Existing MEP in the way of the new curtain lines was coordinated and shifted so compartmentation could follow the fire strategy rather than the original services layout.
Why compartmentation matters in warehouses
Warehouses combine large uninterrupted floor volumes with high-density stored goods. Once a fire starts in an open bay, it has a clear path across the entire storage area. Fire curtains divide that volume into compartments that hold fire and smoke independently, protecting stock, structure and escape routes outside the immediate zone.
